The HSA Christmas Fair took place on Friday 6 December and what a fantastic event it was. The Junior School choir got us off to a great start - Father Christmas arrived and joined the choir before heading off to his grotto for the rest of the evening. The theme for the grotto was 'Mary Poppins' and it was just breath-taking! So much hard work had gone into it - you could see how much detial had gone into producing the finished thing. We loved those special little touches like the chimneys and the top of the umbrella as well as the fiar ground horses. It was put together by our Chair of the HSA - it was Saima's last Christmas Fair and she put a lot of hard work and effort into making the grotto extra special. What an achievement!
The hampers and tombolas were as popular as ever - we had 28 hampers to raffle this year. A big thank you to all the families who donated items to make them such a popular part of this event. The other popular place was the food hall - lots going on in there! The Year 6 children opened their HGJScribbles shop and were busy all night. It was also lovely to see many past pupils coming back to join in the fun.
Well done to the HSA for organising and running such a wonderful event. It was just as wonderfully organised as ever.
If you think you could help with some of these events, do let the HSA know - they are such a hard working group and they are always looking for new helpers.
The HSA gave the Junior School a cheque for £4,000 after the summer fair in July. This, along with previous donations, has helped to refurbish our discovery garden and buy more gym equipment for the children (which they love) and has just replaced our football tables in the playground. The HSA money is always greatly received and in these times of school budget cuts, the money will help to keep some things going for the children.
