National lockdown of schools
4 January 2021 (by M Charles (mcharles))
Following the announcement by the Government, we are now in a national lockdown and all schools will be closed from Tuesday 5 January until at least February half term.
Over the next few days we will be finalising arrangements as we move to online learning whilst remaining open for key worker / vulnerable children.
We will be open for key worker children from tomorrow between 8.45am and 3.30pm. Any families who think they qualify for key worker places should bring their children to school tomorrow and we will confirm places over the next few days. Please read the news item about key workers for more information.
School will be contacting some families during this week if we are able to offer vulnerable child places. Please do not bring your child into school until we have contacted you with this offer.
Online learning will start from tomorrow and will be on the homework pages of the website for the next couple of days as we get all the class teams set up and running and staff have had time to create the learning videos for the children.
Parents will receive clear guidance and instructions for the remote learning and will be made aware that any children who misuse the system will be removed from the online learning platform.
We have a limited number of laptops (50) that we can lend to children during this time. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the list for a laptop, but please be aware that priority will go to the most vulnerable in school. We will be sorting laptops out over the course of this week. We will not be accepting requests for laptops after 12pm Thursday 7 January.
We will be updating parents via the website and text messages / emails as and when we have more information to share with you.
This was not the start to 2021 that we were all looking forward to and wishing everyone a Happy New Year seems rather redundant at this time. We will be open throughout this lockdown and will available to try to help and support all our families during this time. Take care and look after yourselves and we look forward to seeing you all again once we get to the other side of this.
